Alvaro
Henrique has as his main artistical goal to share his passion for
music, and has done so by making concerts and recordings, making new
works known, colaborating with composers, enhancing classical music
audiences, and sharing experiences with music students.
Has shared his love for music with audiences in Brazil and abroad, as in the III
Festival
Nacional de Violao do Piauí (Brazil), the
Festival de Musica Classica Contemporanea de Lima (Peru), the Sergio
Igor Chnee International Festival (Finland), and solo performances in
several countries.
Has
represented the Brazilian culture abroad, playing in Peru, Jamaica,
Mozambique, Namibia, Ireland, England, Greece, Germany, Finland and
Switzerland, featuring national works, specially by Heitor Villa-Lobos
and Cesar Guerra-Peixe.
Has
premiered new works, and made the first world recording of Sighs (Jorge
Antunes), the solo guitar works of Claudio Santoro, the Suite for
Guitar (Ernest
Mahle), the Cinco Intermezzos (Celso Mojola), among others. Has also
motived composers to write new works, and from this partnership
resulted Gegensatz (Oliver
Thedieck), the Concertino para Violão e Grupo de Sopros e
Percussão (Calimerio
Soares), and others.
Aware
of the importance of enhancing the classical music audience, has worked
on projects such as the CCBNB Audience Broadening Course, in Fortaleza,
and is Founder Presidente of the Guitar Society of Brasilia (BRAVIO),
institution which since 2005 promotes monthly free or low cost
instrumental music events.
Has
helped music students to reach their dreams by teaching lessons, giving
lectures and writing articles that, besides giving tools for the
students to play better, aid them to begin their musical career, as in
the lectures in Brasilia about career planing for musicians and the
articles published at the Violao Pro Magazine on how to schedule one's
first recitals. Also shared his experiences and knowledges in several
sites, magazines, and radio and TV shows.
In
August 2009, Alvaro Henrique returned to Brazil after studies in
Germany under Franz Halasz. Has made performances after the 50th
anniversary of Brasilia with comissioned works by Jorge Antunes,
Mario Ferraro and Carlos
Alberto da Silva written for the occasion. Actually works as a Guitar
Professor at the Universidade Federal de Uberlandia and makes a Master
in Music course at the Universidade de Brasilia, researching about the
expressive performance of unpremiered compositions.
